HPMC Polymer
HPMC stands for hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, also known as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. It is a semi-synthetic, neutral, viscoelastic polymer.HPMC is a water-soluble, biodegradable, biocompatible polymer with a wide range of applications such as pharmacology, coloring, cosmetics, adhesives, coatings, agriculture and textiles.
Physical and Chemical Properties
HPMC is a solid substance with the appearance of a white to cream-colored powder that can also be granular. The compound forms a colloid when dissolved in water. It is non-toxic, flammable and can react strongly with oxidizing agents. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose in aqueous solutions, such as methylcellulose, exhibits thermal gelling. This means that when the solution is heated to a critical temperature, it turns into an immobile but elastic substance. These properties are very similar to those of methoxy concentrations;
