HPMC For Construction
HPMC for construction is a non-ionic cellulose ether obtained by alkalization, etherification, neutralization and washing of cellulose.HPMC powder has good properties of thickening, dispersing, emulsifying and film-forming, and it is the first choice for the production of high-quality building material additives.
The use of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose in construction
In construction, putty powder is used in very large quantities. About 90% of HPMC in construction is used as putty powder additives, and the rest is cement mortar and glue, used as thickening and water retention agents.
The amount of HPMC chemicals CAS9004-65-3 added to construction materials is very low, only 0.1%-1%, but it plays an irreplaceable role, which can significantly improve the water retention, fluidity and lubricity of construction materials. Building materials with added HPMC cellulose are easier to mix and use, improving the efficiency of construction workers, extending open time, improving bond strength, and forming a smooth and delicate surface coating.
- Construction HPMC powders are used in cementitious mortars and grouts to improve ease of use, adhesion and water retention.
- Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is also used in self-leveling compounds, tile adhesives and grouts to improve flow and workability.
-Construction HPMC is commonly used as a binder and thickener in coatings and paints.
- HPMC binders are also used in gypsum-based materials such as wallboard and ceiling tiles to improve workability and reduce water absorption.
