Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a nonionic water-soluble cellulose ether that provides a variety of functional properties when dissolved in water. It can be used as a thickener, binder, surfactant, protective colloid, suspending agent and water retention agent.
HPMC powder is a semi synthetic, inactive, and viscoelastic polymer, belonging to one of the non ionic cellulose mixed ethers. HPMC is an important cellulose ether with a wide range of uses and functions. In the solid state, it is a pure white slightly yellow powder product, with a white or slightly yellow fibrous or granular appearance. It has good stability and is incompatible with strong oxidants.
